So La Mere has started talking on the phone to one of her Facebook dudes. Like several times a day. She won't shut up about it.
Oh and she might visit him. She hasn't mentioned that last part but I saw a slip of paper by her computer with notes about trains and where he lives in NY and shit.

I'm concerned....
Not to go all Cassandra on you guys but I'm kinda nervous about this winter. This summer our hospitals have been more full than ever before and it is only just beginning. Currently our ICU's are over capacity and we haven't even begun to see the beginning of the epidemic that is coming. Then I read this about other hospitals " In Austin, so many parents are rushing their children to Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas with swine flu symptoms that the hospital had to set up tents in the parking lot to cope with the onslaught. In Memphis, the Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center emergency room got so crowded with feverish, miserable youngsters that it had to do the same thing." I dunno. Maybe we'll get everyone vaccinated in time. Sometimes I get this feeling that we should all own SUVs. You know, just in case we have to cut cross-country.
Here kitty kitty kitty
So I called la mere today (2 days in a row! she's going to luv me!) and suggested that she adopt one of the cats from Attleboro. Surprisingly, she didn't seem all that interested. I think we need to save one of these cats! what's going to happen to them when the horses come back??? will you go pick one up Es?

Not your sparkles Edward!
Am totally obsessed with the New Moon trailer! Especially the slow-mo Edward stripping to reveal his exceptionally pallid, hairy chest. Hilarious!
A horror films for pediatricians
So I went to go see Bright Star today (sooo weepy) and I got this trailer. http://www.apple.com/trailers/miramax/theboysareback/. It seemed like a film written to set my teeth on edge. All I could see were imminently fractured skulls and a need for sutures. The premise of the film -- that Clive Owen allowing his children to perform dangerous and ill-advised feats made him a better father -- just rubbed me the wrong way.
I officially do not live in a yuppified area...
So the purple star is where I live and the little numbers are starbucks locations. I woke up this morning with a craving for a caramel machiato and thought I would try to find the the nearest starbucks. nothing within walking distance for sure. don't tell la mere but i think i'm living in the hood. oh, and that 1 which seems close is actually located in the catholic students' center.

Double whammy of musical awesomeness
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJnJeQEKIto
Muse may be on the cover of Spin (Matt Bellamy I loved you so, when did it all go wrong??) but this week the British chicks ruled as far as music releases go with the awesomeness that is La Roux's debut self-titled album and the new Noisettes album Wild Young Hearts. I have such a girlcrush on Shingai Shoniwa (she's reaching a Karen O level of cool), I just want her to adopt me and teach me how to dress like a rock star.
p.s. The new Muse album has broken the heart of every music geek I've talked to in the last seven days. It's pretty much all we've been talking about.
WTF
La Mere commented on my picture on facebook IN FRENCH. This is not appropriate. Es, I'm gonna have to blame you for this one by posting shit in french. But still. just wrong. get off fbook LM, it is for youths...I barely still count or should still be using it. I mean, come on! stop with the commenting.
this angry vent is now over.

Figaro, Figaro, Figaro
I went to go see The Barber of Seville last night and it was so much fun. (Must watch Figaro's Aria in its entirety with subtitles). They did this slow-mo slapstick scene at the end of the first act when the police bust in to arrest Count Almaviva that was hilarious.
Secrets of Tomb 10A
There will be a new exhibit opening at the MFA when we're visiting that sounds good -- displays a number of items from a Middle Kingdom tomb that have only just been restored (including a severed head!) do you guys want to check it out?
I'm so excited...
Just got the tickets for La Roux. Can't wait to see you guys!! We are going to have so much fun. The boy wants to meet you guys at some point, so please behave yourselves. Can't be worse than La Mer and her crazy ex-boyfriends she is currently connecting with on Facebook. Because I am avoiding that shit at all costs. Really, I don't want to know. I really, really don't.
OMG I am SO EXCITED
going to see this movie tonight. I've heard its all kinds of amazing and I'm SO excited. You should both be excited too. Come on guys! It goes along with our nerdy PBS childhood! Please? And it looks so pretty! Also it has the small child from Love Actually. What's not to love??? Here are some more pictures to convince you including one of the young angry poet! LOVE.

Possible plans...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7IGE58IPgo
(video was not embeddable) (pretty sure embeddable is not a word)
ANYWAYS
Trying to figure out cool stuff we can do while you guys are here and apparently La Roux (my second favorite Tilda Clone, after Patrick Wolf of course) is playing at the Paradise on Tuesday, Oct 27th. Let me know if that is a night you guys will be here and if it is whether this is something you'd be interested in. Tickets are only $13 each so no big deal money-wise, and this isn't a show that's gonna sell out anytime soon.

In Case you missed it
Oh Boston, you're my home
I personally think this is the funniest MM spoof I have seen, but maybe I was influenced by all the Boston in-jokes. the funniest part is how they keep pouring their beer out every time they say ted w's name. hahaha. watch and enjoy.

I'm having a "Hey, I could TOTALLY do that" moment...
Compared To What? The Bubonic Plague?
So La Mere just informed me that compared to her friend's kids I am a good daughter. She then went on to say that she's glad I'm not a drug addict who steals my grandparent's canoe or breaks into a home for elderly nuns to steal stuff in order to support my junk habit, and that I do not have several crack children. I buy groceries, and am therefore better.
Awesome, Mom. Thanks. You make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
She is really campaigning for Queen of Backhanded Compliments, isn't she?
Le sigh.

Epic Music Post
Okay, first of all, this might just be my favorite music video due to the sheer whatthefuckness of it all:
...although it's really not any weirder than any of her other videos now that I'm watching them...
Concert-wise I've got Ra Ra Riot (w/the Boy) and Grizzly Bear (w/Nancy) lined up for early Oct
...and then The Swell Season (w/Nancy, Deb and Danni). I love Glen and Marketa so much.
and Amanda Palmer (again w/the Boy) lined up for early Nov.
Sorry about all the videos I'm just so excited right now.
Oh, and the new Muse album comes out on Tuesday! And new Tegan and Sara next month!
(and maybe going to see The Pixies if we can get tickets tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed)
I love the Fall so fucking much!

Don't tell La Mere yet...
I was gonna tell her tonight but then she came home and bitched about work for an hour before she even got around to asking me how my day was so I kept my mouth shut. I'm gonna tell her tomorrow night when she'll hopefully be in a better mood. I did tell her that I was helping Deb and her friend Miles set up the tattoo shop he's opening in Worcester (which is true) and that I'll be going back tomorrow (which is also true) and when she asked if I was thinking about getting another tattoo I said yes. I just didn't mention I'd already gotten it. She mentioned it might be a good idea to get it where it wouldn't show at work. I didn't point out that that ship has kind of sailed with my four leaf clover.
Why does dealing with La Mere always have to be so fucking complicated?
Anyways, I'm wicked excited. It's the constellation Lyra, btw.
So what do you guys think?
I laughed until I cried
I'm not sure why I found the persistent boos of this leprachaun-like heckler so amusing, but I just could not stop laughing. Perhaps it has something to do with the unfortunate candidate's name?
What's in the tent?
Driving down 395, I kept seeing this huge tent erected near the Pentagon and was quite curious as to what it might be housing. Driving closer I saw posters for an event known as Cavalia, which after researching on youtube, appears to be a cirque du soleil type performance put on by the elves of middle earth while riding on horseback. Promises to be more frightening than a Renaissance Faire.

I miss HBO already
This looks hilarious! I don't know how I missed it before. Must watch preview. Apparently someone else in the world has read every single Agatha Christie, Rex Stout, Arthur Conan Doyle novel etc besides us!.

Keeping meticulous shark attack records since 1670
Apparently a couple of great white sharks were noted off the coast by Chatham, closing the beaches. In their coverage of the shark sightings, CNN notes "Massachusetts has recorded only four shark attacks since 1670, two of which were fatal. The last fatal shark attack in Massachusetts happened in 1936."
PS. I had no idea that the MFA and the NGA had copies of this painting!
