Things That Are Awesome...

Emily Dickinson's Garden

The New York Botanical Garden has this amazing exhibit that "features a re-creation of Dickinson’s own mid-19th-century New England flower garden, an interpretation curators have been able to craft from extensive research and careful reading of her poems and notes. On display are Dickinson’s favorite plants, including daisies, daylilies, tulips, roses, jasmine, and many others, giving witness to how she may have felt in the surroundings that inspired so much of her poetry." I think I might try to go.

What would Salander do?

I'm pretty sure she would not cry over evil ex-fiances.
She would get fucking even.
Too bad I don't have her hacker skills.

Best movie review. ever.

From the folks at Gawker: "Ramona and Beezus, 7/23
What It Is: A seriously wonderful and beloved (I might currently have a cat named Ramona...) book series by Beverly Cleary gets polished, hipped-up, and ruined by Josh Duhamel, John Corbett, and the Selena Gomez monster. Ramona has CGI fantasies and is just an obnoxious klutz, rather than a normal, charming kid. Thanks a lot guys! Now the Ramona books will be emblazoned with "Now a Major Motion Picture" and Selena Gomez's face on the cover for the foreseeable future.
Should You See It: NO! Never! If you are near the movie theater and see children going into this movie, stop them. Run them over if you have to! Children are better off dead than seeing this horrible, horrible ruiner movie."

for the rest of their summer movie reviews.

Greetings from The Pit of Despair

Don't worry. I plan to pop off to Canada tonight. Just some of the events of the past 12 hrs...

1) Moving the treadmill was an epic fail. Apparently la mere had the guys put it together in the living room and it is too big to move through the doorway. She had me move the couches all around and has decided to leave the treadmill folded up in the living room entrance so that someday someone like Rob or Adam might be able to move it. She also suggested that we might be able to somehow remove the wooden door jam or knock out part of the wall in order to remove the treadmill from the living room.

2) some large animal has died in the walls upstairs and it stinks of decay.

3) La mere said: "I used to wonder which of you girls was going to get married first. Now I think it will be me!"

What's a not gay way to ask him to go camping with me?

Have I mentioned lately how much I love this show? Just caught up on the last couple of episodes that I'd missed, and was reminded about how much I adore this show. Charles you were right, it is totally awesome.

Also, of course, Matty D is gonna be on 30 Rock tonight, so that's gonna be hilarious.

Anyways. Random sitcom excitement. And then like a month before all the awesomely cheesy cable shit starts up. (ie, hot gay conman shenanigans)

And now I want a pixie cut

Seriously, how cute would it be? I wonder if I got a pixie cut it would be easier to dye my hair lighter? hmmmm I wonder how i would look...maybe make a change right before I go back to LA??

This is hilarious

I never even saw New Moon...

But I am so fucking excited for Eclipse. Why?

Have you seen this fucking soundtrack? Holy shit!

1. Metric – “Eclipse (All Yours)”

2. Muse – “Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)”

3. The Bravery – “Ours”

4. Florence + The Machine – “Heavy In Your Arms”

5. Sia - “My Love”

6. Fanfarlo – “Atlas”

7. The Black Keys – “Chop And Change”

8. The Dead Weather – “Rolling In On A Burning Tire”

9. Beck and Bat For Lashes – “Let’s Get Lost”

10. Vampire Weekend – “Jonathan Low”

11. UNKLE – “With You In My Head (featuring The Black Angels)”

12. Eastern Conference Champions – “A Million Miles An Hour”

13. Band Of Horses – “Life On Earth”

14. Cee-Lo Green – “What Part Of Forever”

I'd list all the bands that I know, love and am excited for, but it'll be easier to mention the ones I don't really know. I've never heard Eastern Conference Champions, I only know Cee-lo Green because he's the singer of Gnarls Barkley, and I've heard of UNKLE, but I'm not as familiar with them. Other than that, holy crap, so excited! New songs!

I may be becoming a coffee snob...

So my favorite place by far is Intelligentsia because aside from having awesome lattes and cute hipster baristas, it is a really nice chill place to hang out in the morning.

However, I went to LA MILL for the first time this morning and it is not like any coffee shop I've ever been to. For one thing, as you can see in the photos, it has a chandelier, very modern architecture and chichi furniture. Although I just ended up getting a regular coffee to go today, they apparently have a drink called the Coffee and Jelly Donut, which is espresso, jam and steamed milk. Did you hear that Charles? Coffee and Jam! The place is a bit expensive, but seems pretty damn cool. Apparently they've also got awesome food. Oddly enough this is the place that was recommended to me by a biker dude.

Remember how I used to do all the voices for you Es?

http://jezebel.com/5536198/daria-a-love-letter-from-a-former-teen-nerd Even though we never had MTV and I think I mainly watched it at CS's house, i loved this show! I distinctly remember us wandering around video signals while I spoke to you in the different voices, which for some reason I loved to do. hee!

You know I hate gender sterotypes but...

...I have to admit that Tim & Eric Awesome Show is very definitely a dude show. Adam and Sean once decided they wanted to watch an entire season of it and Deb and I agreed since we'd never seen it before. About ten minutes later Deb and I ended up hanging out in the kitchen so we wouldn't have to talk over the TV. That being said, this is kind of awesome...

...but then maybe I'm just a sucker for anything involving Paul Rudd.

How to cast a bad guy...

This article is hilarious. They left Rufus Sewall off the list however.
