I saw Los Campesinos last night and they were great, but what really struck my fancy was the opening act, a band called Parenthetical Girls
So this is Zac Pennington
He's the lead singer, and I have been to a lot of concerts, but I have to say he was one of the most charismatic, sassy performers I've ever seen. He reminds me of an American version of Patrick Wolf, actually.
The did an amazing (awesome and creepy) cover of Handsome Devil by The Smiths. Everyone danced. It was great.

So you know how you guys always tease me for never noticing anyone?
Irony alert. I went to go write at me and es' fav place this AM and spent 30 minutes without noticing this fellow at the table right next to me. In fact probably would not have noticed at all if some college kid hadn't gone up to him and asked to take a picture with him (he kindly obliged and was v nice about it actually). anyway, you guys are totally right. i never notice anyone. what is wrong with me? although i have to say, i was super please that he was very nice to my favorite waitress. also, am sort of amused that he goes to bfast at 8:30am in the morning on a saturday with a (guy) pal.

Just discovered that there's a Boardwalk Empire soundtrack!
You guys know how much I love old-timey music (see: Beirut, The Petrojvic Blasting Company, etc, etc) The highlight is definitely this Regina Spektor song though.

So Es convinced me to watch
I've been waiting for this moment
The Lincoln Lees finally meet! Shriek! Shriek! Too bad will be out of the country for the foreseeable future....
Looks like I should go on that hike to Uganda this weekend....
From my horoscope: "On Saturday, loveplanet Venus enters your ninth house of cross-cultural connections. Romance may arrive in a package quite different than what you’re used to, so keep your ears perked for sexy accents. If unattached, head to a known singles’ hotspot. You could also meet someone through a sporty activity—as good an excuse as any to get back to the gym!"

Bwahaha
Besides having the greatest name ever, what caused you to cast Benedict Cumberbatch?
ABRAMS: We just were looking for someone with the most awesome name in history. That was the casting call. We asked for someone with the most awesome name in history, ever, and Benedict Cumberbatch showed up, so we were like, “You’re cast!”
What was it that made him your villain?
ABRAMS: Who said he’s our villain?
What made you want to cast him?
ABRAMS: He’s a genius. Honestly, he’s just an incredible actor. If you’ve seen his work in Sherlock, he’s just got incredible skills. He’s an amazing stage actor. He did amazing work (on stage) in Frankenstein. He’s brilliant. You try to cast people who are great. We got lucky.
Also, reasons I love Simon Pegg:
DOOOOOWWWWWWNNNNNTOOOOONNNNNNN!!!!!!!
Bill Nighy makes everything better
Victorian Squalor
I love I capture the castle so so much. Was re-reading at the laundromat and love how Cassandra describes Stephen as looking "just a fraction daft" and also how Rose wears a hideous blue flannel dressing gown that C thinks Rose would be horrified if she ever really looked at herself in it (sounds like my robe!). And the comment about the "alleged" water heater.

Well
I promise this doesn't give anything away, Es
Except for the extreme awesomeness of the film. I think my jaw actually dropped when I saw the credits.
Also, of note, why did I think that was a great book for la mere? Why didn't I read this until like a year later? Why do we always end up watching violent, sex-filled movies with our parents????

So I am freaking out again
About jobs for next year and leaving soon. I am having palpitations and just want to stay in my bathrobe all day and watch PBS specials. So not fulfilling my New Year's Resolution to be a real grown-up.
You guys better both get Skype so we can actually talk to each other while I am gone. (Our internet is too slow for the videochat but we can do a 3 way conference call).

So I couldn't find that article
But it basically just said "If you want to get hugged by Benedict Cumberbatch, basically you need to 1.) Become a British Actor and 2.) Wait"
And here are some photographs of him hugging like every Brit actor ever. Seriously. This took like two seconds to google.
Matt Smith:
James McAvoy:
Eddie Redmayne (who still looks like he's about 12):
Tom Hardy:
And a truly awkward photo of him and FASSBENDER:
Also, looking like he's about to make out with either David Tennant or Ioan Gryffudd:
Even our favorite lady psychopath gets in on the action:
And finally, some bonus Hugging Gary Oldman In A Bath Robe:
And getting groped by Martin Freeman (presumably while rather drunk):
And finally I had to include this one because it made me laugh really damn hard:

Be still my heart
He rides a motorbike and is nice to the cleaning lady???? (On a side note, totally miss riding around on motos.) His violin teacher appears to be head over heels for Sherlock.

Neighbor below
is playing the most terrible soundtrack tonight at very high decibels its impossible to even think. God I hate that angry man. This is why living in a cottage would be good. no horrible loud neighbors to bother you. You could play loud music without bothering other people but would never have to put up with their loudness or shouting.
